ABS Pump Repair

ABS Pump Repairs

ATC offer a test and rebuild service on ABS pumps that were originally manufactured by Teves. These are used by a wide range of vehicle manufacturers and fitted to various models.

How do I identify my ABS pump?

The ABS pump consists of the motor, the module ( modulator block ) , and the ECU. Each component has 2 significant part numbers marked on it. Call our sales team with any visible numbers and we will endeavour to identify what you have. The location of the pump within the engine bay greatly restricts the numbers that can be seen while still fitted to the vehicle.

Common faults : ATE MK 60 ABS Pump Repairs

The symptom that the vehicle shows is the ABS warning light being illuminated : on interrogating the vehicle diagnostics with an appropriate scan tool  a fault code will be recorded related to the hydraulic brake pressure sensor. The actual code number displayed on the scan tool and the description this translates to varies slightly depending on the vehicle model and tool being used.

Why do they fail?

The material used is measured in microns, and as such it wears out and fractures through repeated use.

Why is the rebuilt ABS Pump a more reliable product than the original?

The replacement material used is twice the thickness of the original material, which is why ATC confidently put our name to a safety critical component.

A common question and answer :

I have called with the part numbers from my ABS pump and the described fault but you cannot help, any reason why?

The answer is very simple – on some vehicles the hydraulic brake pressure sensor is NOT inside the ABS pump, it is located externally, somewhere else on the vehicle. Effectively it means that your ABS pump isn’t the source of the problem.

Common faults : ATE MK 70 ABS Pump Repairs

The symptom that the vehicle shows is the ABS warning light being illuminated: on interrogating the vehicle diagnostics with an appropriate scan tool a fault code will be recorded related to the wheel speed sensor. The actual code number displayed on the scan tool and the description this translates to varies slightly depending on the vehicle model and tool being used. On replacing the offending sensor the fault is found to still persist at which point the ABS pump comes under scrutiny.

A secondary fault is the inability to communicate with the ABS system.  Both of these faults can be diagnosed using our in house test facility. We are aware that water ingress can cause / contribute to these failures.

How long will the test / ABS Pump Repair take ?

We would normally test and diagnose the failure on the day the item arrives with us. A repair should be completed within 48 hours of being given the go ahead to proceed.
